With great appreciation for the No Agenda Show for their inspiration of ideas and the occasional stolen sound clip.
This is a value for value show and I look forward to everyone providing some value back.

Ambers' Rant:
This is #31 of 52 episodes for 2021. Its Episode 524, and we seem to be having another heatwave rolling over us! Not NEARLY as bad as the last one luckily. We are only supposed to be expecting about 30 vs the 42 it got up to last time. I hope everyone out there will keep themselves hydrated! Especially if you are going to get yourself into the outdoors to enjoy this last burst of heat before the autumn winds come to chill us to our bones.
Sun or shine, we will be here to give you the gems and the trash of the plugins out there, and a little bit of news! I would love to hear from you, our listeners! And, if anyone would like to throw up their own rant here in my place, I would be happy to read it out!
Remember to find yourself a little time to chill every day! Whether its classical music and a glass of wine, or biking through the hills at break neck speeds, we ALL need a break from the world and its craziness, and we all benefit from turning off that media for about an hour a day.
Rinse and repeat as often as needed.
We have some news from the world of WordPress for you today as well as some great plugins.
News this week:
Sent in by a listener
Android Trojan hits 140 countries, 10,000 victims through social media hijacking
(Mer's take: the Trojan named FlyTrap by the Zimperium Researchers, has been able to spread through ‘Social Media Hijacking, 3rd party app stores, and Sideloaded Applications' – since march. They are doing this through things like FB, offering ‘Netflix Coupons' and ‘Google AdWords coupons', getting people to click and offer up their info.)
How to protect WordPress Against Site Injection Attacks (3 ways)
(Mer's take: A great article that first introduces you to what a Site Injection is, then goes through and gives you the 3 best ways to protect your WordPress site against them.)
Elastic makes Client Libraries Incompatible with Amazon-led Open Source Fork – If I am understanding this article correctly, Elastic made a change to its core product when they re-licensed it, making it so that it is no longer open source. There seems to be some sort of war going on between OpenSearch and ElasticSearch, since they share some of the same open source coding…? Elastic has also added in a python update to perform an API request that will ‘verify connection to ElasticSearch', and raises an error if it does not receive the proper response…. I had a bit of a hard time fully comprehending this article, I seem to have stepped into the middle of the battle when the chaos is at its height…
Block Visibility Pro Expands upon its Free Version – From eCommerce Integration to Location Based Controls, there is a whole lot that these guys have tacked onto their free version! Which is pretty cool, I haven't seen an expansion of the free version before!
Automattic releases Quadrat, a Block-Based Podcasting WordPress Theme – This looks like it could be a pretty cool idea, an entire theme based on Podcasting! Something that I think may be worth checking out!

Gutenberg 11.2 expands colour support! – This includes colour support for Search, Pullquote Blocks, and offers experimental Flex Layout for Group Block. Very exciting stuff!
Emoji Toolbar Plugin bringing Emoji Picker back to WordPress Editor – So, if you appreciate Emoji's, this is totally something to at least check out.
Rise and Fall of WordPress over 2021 so far – An insightful look into the rise and fall of the popularity and revenue in/output of WordPress over the past year with ‘everything' going on.
Tips Tuesday with MayAnna!! – This week covers things like SEO, Gutenberg Ninja Tutorials, Yoast info, GDPR cookie plugins, and more!
Googles Quantum Computing Labs MAY have created the world's first time crystal inside a quantum computer – This is SO cool! Honestly, you need to read the article to really understand – a little too much explanation for just this little blurb area. 😉
The Metaverse is upon us! – Makes me think about Star Trek and that room they had where you could go anywhere, be anything. After all, Zuckerberg is excited, so what could possibly go wrong?
New Open Source Firefighter safety project will save lives – and you can help! – Check this article out, they are looking for people to get involved in helping to create a device that will help to detect toxins in the air for firefighters.

ClassicPress Options
ClassicPress is growing really well, but I just don't have the time to add reviews on ClassicPress myself. I am always open to reviews sent in by listeners; though unless there is a review sent into me on ClassicPress, I am not going to do more than mention that ClassicPress is a thing, and here are some resources. I hope some listeners out there find this information useful!
One thing I am looking forward to in the ClassicPress World is the expansion of the number of ClassicPress specific plugins and their own repository. There are a few plugins specifically for ClassicPress and all plugins for WordPress 4.9.9 work well on it. I do believe it has a future, I just have not time to help them in getting it out there.
ClassicPress News:
The article mentioned on last weeks show.
A post from a new ClassicPress user who migrated fro WordPress 5.7 to 5.8 and then to ClassicPress
A users personal experience of going through the migration, an interesting read.
The First Release Candidate for ClassicPress 1.3.0 is available!
For more information about what's included, and how to help, checkout https://forums.classicpress.net/…/classicpress-1-3…/3356
Happy Testing!

John's Plugin
Query Monitor
https://wordpress.org/plugins/query-monitor/
The Lowdown:
This plugin is a great tool to help you determine what may be slowing down your WordPress website.
You can use it for debugging of database queries, PHP errors, hooks & actions, block editor blocks, enqueued scripts and stylesheets, HTTP API calls, and more.
This is a great tool for finding out what is going on in your site.

Amber's Plugin
Recently Viewed Products for WooCommerce
https://wordpress.org/plugins/recently-viewed-products-woocommerce/
HAS SINCE BEEN REMOVED – WORDPRESS NOTICE STATES:
This plugin has been closed as of June 29, 2022 and is not available for download. This closure is permanent. Reason: Guideline Violation.
The Lowdown:
This plugin brings up the most recently viewed products on your WooCommerce store, sorted by user. You will see the items on the product page, the shop page, and on the cart page. Bonus, if a user is not logged in, a cookie is created to keep the id of the item browsed so that you can still see which items were browsed, even by those not logged in.
You'll find the plugin settings under the WooCommerce menu option, and you can set up however many recently viewed items you want to see, whether you see ‘before or after related product', and whether or not you want to see them in the shop page and cart page.
There is a short code that they give you so that you can see these items in more places on your site as well.
This seems like it might be very useful for people who need to get a better idea on which products they have are more interesting. Could also help you to figure out why those ones are more attractive to prospective customers vs others.

Get A Quote for WordPress
https://wordpress.org/plugins/get-a-quote/
PLUGIN HAS SINCE BEEN CLOSED DOWN PERMANENTALY – WORDPRESS NOTICE STATES:
This plugin has been closed as of March 9, 2022 and is not available for download. This closure is permanent. Reason: Author Request.
The Lowdown:
If you're starting out or running a WordPress design business, and you are looking for a way to provide quotes in an easier way, this might just be what you're looking for. This is a nice simple form people can fill out to start the quote process. You could also use this for many other types of businesses where people find you online, but you provide real world goods or services. One that comes to mind is maybe a lawn-care specialist.
With this you receive a form that is auto submitted to you. You can then respond to it, and you will be able to track the submission process and see if they have been accepted or fell by the wayside.

Amber's plugin
Draft Website Builder
https://wordpress.org/plugins/website-builder/
The Lowdown:
This is still a fairly fresh Gutenberg addition, but it seems like a pretty good idea! A draft builder for Gutenberg with more responsiveness to the Margin, Padding, Display, and Flex Basis. This is for the free version.
If you are willing to go Pro, there are about 100 more things it can do for you – though from my own experiences so far, the free version does help if you are not used to Gutenberg.
If only they had been willing to offer up a little more in the free version though… they have SOOOO many options there!! Would it really have killed them to offer up a little more in the Min, Max, Grid, and Container options….? That's only 4 out of the something like 30 different types…. honestly, after seeing how little they offered in the free version… I felt a little cheated….
I get that they have to make money, but isn't the idea to get you totally hooked on the plugin – to the point that you can't live without it..? My recommendation is that they offer up a few more choices, get the users TOTALLY hooked on this plugin, THEN charge for the rest of them. See, with just a few more options, users would find themselves unable to live without the plugin. Especially those of us just getting used to Gutenberg after using things like Elementor.
But that's just me….

Admin Graphic Password
https://wordpress.org/plugins/admin-graphic-password
HAS SINCE BEEN REMOVED FROM WORDPRESS – WORDPRESS NOTICE STATES:
This plugin has been closed as of August 25, 2021 and is not available for download. This closure is permanent. Reason: Guideline Violation.
The Lowdown:
If you're looking for a new way to increase the login security to your website, this may be a tool for you. How this works is it adds a graphic image that you break into chunks; and then you choose which chunks need to be selected to allow a login into your site.
This does look to be an interesting tool to add security to your site.

Amber's plugin
Like-Computy
https://wordpress.org/plugins/like-computy/
The Lowdown:
This seemed like a pretty neat idea! And strangely enough, I really liked the 90's look they have going here.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get it working in Elementor, in Classic Editor, or Gutenberg. I don't think this plugin likes me for some reason…
Due to the inability to get this up and going, I have to give it a 1. Great idea, just no follow through.
