Prepare For The Cataclysm
WoW it’s been a big day for WarCraft fans, with the announcement of Cataclysm and all that it will bring to the game
Ok time for the update now that Blizcon is over for another year, I followed it though the blogs and tweets out there at times the info was coming so fast was hard to keep up. I was also on the Cataclysm website within minutes of it going live to check out all the kewl changes. Ok raise your hands if your excited about the new expansion Cataclysm that is coming I know I am.
Now for the rumor mill I will do my best to stoke it a bit, it is rumored that Cataclysm will be out in 2010 sometime along with StarCraft 2. Ok it’s a bit more than rumor since it was confirmed during a DirectTV interview with Mike Morhaime, CEO of Blizzard although keep in mind this is simply a target and like many of Blizzards targets in the past they often are moving targets so are hard to hit. I for one though will keep my hopes up until I hear otherwise.
To place a couple things in perspective that have been brought to my attention on the target release date, Blizzard is now owned by Activision and they seem to be pretty good at hitting targets for games. It was mentioned to me by my better half that since they bought up Guitar Hero there have been 4 additional releases of it.
I am looking forward to this expansion for a number of reasons the most interesting is that the world is about to undergo major upheaval and changes to it. With area that I am now familiar with undergoing serious changes such as Auberdine being rent in two.
One great thing about this is that when the Cataclysm occurs it will happen for all players at the same time so no one will be able to play in the old Azeroth. When the Cataclysm occurs, it will occur for all players, whether they have purchased the expansion or not. This will make the game play interesting for everyone both old and new players alike since everyone will have to rediscover the world all over again. You will have to get the expansion if you want the new content.
So comes one of the great questions will you reroll a new toon just to experience the game all over again from the beginning?
Some of the things to look forward to for the Cataclysm are:
There will be two new playable races in WarCraft now the Worgen http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/cataclysm/features/worgen.html and the Goblins http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/cataclysm/features/goblin.html this will make for some interesting playtime. So will it encourage you to change sides just to play a new race and character class?
The new secondary skill Archeology also holds some promise for something interesting to do, it is related to the new talent tree branch Path of the Titans.
New or return of baddie Deathwing the Destroyer will return to Azeroth, and his eruption from Deepholm will sunder the world, http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/cataclysm/faq/
Yes!! Flying mounts in Azeroth
Two new Zone starting areas The Lost Isles for the Goblins and Gilneas for the Worgen which from the Cataclysm web site hold lots of new promise.
The new under city Vashj’ir will bee pretty kewl I think, looks to be a pretty interesting place to play.
So all in all this is a pretty nice looking change to the game.
