Today, November 26, 2020, is American Thanksgiving Day. So today, take a few moments to be a little thankful for what you might have, and offer up some help to those you know who may be in need. Time to showcase the Rebel in you.
With great appreciation for the No Agenda Show for their inspiration of ideas and the occasional stolen sound clip.
This is a value for value show and I look forward to everyone providing some value back.
Before I get started, you will want to hang around to the end of the show for our Q & A segment with Amber…. and to those listening on the podcast, you may want to check out the YouTube version which has some great discussions before the show starts…

Amber's Rant
This is #46 of 53 52 episodes for 2020. Its Episode 487 and things on this show are moving and shaking into a whole new shape. We have reached week 46 of the year 2020, and we are now 36 weeks into the Rona, and back to the ‘simple 2 week lockdown' – but with an addition of being fined if you refuse to wear your mask! And here I was thinking ‘ah good, people finally seem to be waking up' – yet now here we are yet again in the twilight zone.
The world appears to have jumped out of the pot and into the frying pan, so now is the perfect time to make yourself a little place where you can TUNE OUT for a while! It can be anywhere and anything – a blanket thrown over your couch to build a fort, in your bed with your door closed and a ‘Do Not Disturb' sign or a sock on your door, or even your car! Get into a space all your own, throw on some music and grab a book, or even throw on a book and grab a drink! Kick back, and breathe. Try to get there at least once a week, more if you can.
If you have kids, let them know that they should only bother you if they are broken, dying, or bleeding for 1 WHOLE hour. Make your area comfy for you, and try to remove all internet AND radio with news hours while zoning out. Try to let go of everything outside of your control, and work on pestering those you know and care about to get their own Zone Out Space's started.
Rinse and repeat as often as needed.
We have some news from the world of WordPress for you today as well as some great plugins.
Let's get to the fun we have today.

ClassicPress Options
ClassicPress is a fast growing fork of WordPress that is starting to come into its own. ClassicPress is focused on Business Websites, runs fast and is looking pretty good. There are a few plugins specifically for ClassicPress and all plugins for WordPress 4.9.9 work well on it. I do believe it has a future.
One thing I am looking forward to in the ClassicPress World is the expansion of the number of ClassicPress specific plugins and their own repository. Currently there are not a lot of ClassicPress specific plugins but I do know it is going to grow and I'll have to expand this segment then. Who knows, it could take over the whole show.
This week for ClassicPress I have:

Email Encoder – Protect Email Addresses
https://wordpress.org/plugins/email-encoder-bundle/
The lowdown:-
In today's world it is very hard to place an email on a website so your visitors can contact you without all the bots collecting that email and then spamming the hell out of you.
This plugin helps to slow that flow of spam by making it hard for bots to scrape your email address from your website.
This is pretty much an activate minor settings and forget about it plugin.

Amber's Plugin
MC Good-bye Howdy
https://wordpress.org/plugins/mc-good-bye-howdy/
Description
This plugin is all about removing the ‘howdy so-n-so' at the top of the page of WordPress dashboard.
I know my dad probably loves it, what with his cowboy personality type – but I've personally always found that it makes me think about Woody from Toy Story.
So this lovely plugin, which is totally free, gives you OPTIONS.
Daypart, which connects to your time of day with ‘good morning' or ‘good afternoon'.
Random international greetings – I've only seen French and Spanish so far, though I am looking forward to seeing just how many ‘random' international greetings there are!
Random positive phrases – the first one I got was ‘You're a superhero'.
And last for the best – you can create a greeting of whatever you like. Totally personal! And there are NO restrictions – I tried everything and it just popped right in there no matter what I wrote.
I like having options. Options make life so much more interesting!
Highly recommend checking this out if you're feeling a little bored of the usual ‘howdy' greeting.

Easy Options Hide Shipping Method per product for WooCommerce
https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-options-hide-shipping-method-per-product-wc/
The Lowdown:
This is a tool for when you have multiple shipping methods. If you have some products a shipping method may not apply to, you can hide that shipping method on a per product basis.

Custom User Guide
https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-user-guide/
Description
Brand new, hot off the press, this is an awesome little plugin I found while browsing the ‘new' plugins for my pet project.
It's pretty fun to use! Once you plug this in, go to ‘User Guide' on the left, and start making your interactive user guide.
You are able to ‘choose' target element on a click or have this start automatically – I'm actually having a bit of a hard time explaining, even thought this was super easy to use!
It is designed to work both on PC screens and on Mobile screens, which is very useful. Removes the need for you to tweak it yourself to make it work on both types of screens.
Now, as this is so new, I don't know what sort of kinks still need ironing out. There does always seem to be something down the road – I will keep an eye on this plugin and get back to you about it, though if anyone else out there could give it a go and let me know, that would be awesome! I would LOVE to hear back about any of the plugins I cover from another point of view!
I do recommend you go and check this out if a user guide sounds like something you could use on your site. I know this is something I needed for my own pet project, and it's working out fairly nicely so far.

Sold Out Badge for WooCommerce
https://wordpress.org/plugins/sold-out-badge-for-woocommerce/
The Lowown:
This simple plugin allows you to add a ‘Sold Out' badge to your products in Woocommerce. One of the great features about this plugin is that you can have the badge text say anything you would like it to say. You can also adjust the background colour and text size and colour.

Amber's Plugin
Hello I am Here! Video conferences
https://wordpress.org/plugins/hello-i-am-here/
Description
This could be a very useful plugin if you are getting a bit tired of the extreme lagging that various video conferencing sites have been having since everyone started working from home all at once, and trying to get online all at once.
It's pretty easy to set up, though I wasn't able to fully test this one out.
You can insert the short-code into any page, or create a whole new page and insert the short-code, send the person or persons you are wanting to link with the URL and the meeting code, and off you go!
It seems to be a good way to get around having to use one of the bigger companies.
There is a paid version, and apparently the paid version is the only way to get around the Jitsi Logo floating about.
If anybody out there winds up using this and is finding it to be good or bad, write me about it!

Is there a list somewhere where I can go and look up all the best sites to go to in order to learn about this world I am still so new to?
How did you get started in WordPress?
How did you go from being a computer fixer person to being a WordPress guy?
What was the thing you found hardest to get used to on running your own WordPress business?
How did your business start? Did you come up with a business plan and set everything up first?
How did you set things up to get them going?
How did you learn all this computery stuff? Did you just keep breaking and then fixing things, or did you take courses, or did you have teachers?
