Copyright Rant
So have you ever thought about copyright and what is does to our society and how it prevents the creativity or at the least slows it down or makes it harder. These past few years should have been boons to creative people out there many things should have come up and entered the public domain. This includes such items as Mickey Mouse and bugs Bunny they should have passed to public domain so people could the begin making derivates of these things and thus the process of creating new from old would continue.
ON another vein of this the process of copyrighting and or trade marking common words and places is getting crazy, I read somewhere that the City of San Francisco has copyrighted their city name, does this now mean that no one can use it except for what is fair use such as I have used here. Guess if you have a story about this unmentionable city you'll have to make up a name for it or call ir SFA for sweet fuck all assholes who think the whole world should be owned. My opinion is that all copyrights should die 5 years after the death of the author. Well many might argue what about the heirs and should they benefit well no not really they should get of their lazy buts and earn their own keep. Sure they should get some benefit but for the few years I mentioned then it should pass to the public domain.
What other ridicules words have been copyrighted or trademarked.
more on this later the train of thought got derailed.
