Ambers' Rant:
This is #21 of 52 episodes for 2021. Its Episode 513, and things are looking pretty cool in the tech world! I mean, a flying car?!? Well, apparently it glides, for a bit. But still! I think that's super cool. You'll find the link in the extra news section.
I hope everyone out there is able to get out and breathe some fresh air! The weather around here has been a wee bit gloomy this last week, but the sun bravely popped out for a couple of days there! Living on an island, I think it is always a good idea to take in the sunshine as much as possible whenever you can. Just be sure to bring along a coat; while bringing along that coat, why not bring a book, or some music? Find a place in the great outdoors somewhere to sit back and chill, catch up on a podcast or even just look up and see if you can catch one of those pyramid shaped UFO's that are taking the Internet by storm!
Just remember to stay away from the media for a little while at least once a day.
Rinse and repeat as often as needed.
We have some news from the world of WordPress for you today as well as some great plugins.

ClassicPress Options
ClassicPress is a fast growing fork of WordPress that is starting to come into its own. ClassicPress is focused on Business Websites, runs fast and is looking pretty good. There are a few plugins specifically for ClassicPress and all plugins for WordPress 4.9.9 work well on it. I do believe it has a future.
One thing I am looking forward to in the ClassicPress World is the expansion of the number of ClassicPress specific plugins and their own repository. Currently there are not a lot of ClassicPress specific plugins but I do know it is going to grow and I'll have to expand this segment then. Who knows, it could take over the whole show.
This week for ClassicPress I have:
General info:

I look forward to the day they have their own repository. I can still recall WP when it had a small repository.

John's Plugin
Limit Login Attempts
https://wordpress.org/plugins/miniorange-limit-login-attempts/
The Lowdown:
This is a great plugin that has lots of options for smacking the spammers away from your site.
You can set it to block IPs after a set number of login attempts. It has a WAF that can also help with security. It will auto set the captcha once you get your keys, anyway, into all necessary forms.
All in all and pretty good freemium plugin

Amber's Plugin
Embed Block for GitHub
https://wordpress.org/plugins/embed-block-for-github/
The Lowdown:
This seems like a really useful plugin for Gutenberg. Once you plug it in and activate it, it creates a GitHub Repository Embed Block to the Gutenberg Block Editor.
Looks pretty awesome, from what I can tell it works really well – I am not overly familiar yet with Gutenberg, and I don't have a GitHub account or anything, so I wasn't able to really test this out. From the reviews and all of the research I did though, it seems to work really well, and has some great points about being easy and simple and fast to set up.
If there is anyone out there who uses Gutenberg who would be interested in trying this out, please do and let me know!
I will be covering this again soon with better detail for everyone about how well it works.
Until then, I am going to give this a middle of the road rating, as I can't really say whether it's awesome or great – but I like the idea and wanted to give anyone listening, the knowledge of this plugins existence. I know from personal experience that GitHub can be VERY useful for finding information needed about many things.

John's plugin
Allow Multiple Accounts
https://wordpress.org/plugins/allow-multiple-accounts/
The Lowdown:
There are times when you are creating a membership site and you need to allow multiple accounts with the same email address. That is what this plugins does; yes it is older but still works. You do have to manually download this one because of its age as it will not show up in the plugin install area.

Amber's plugin
No Update Nag
https://wordpress.org/plugins/no-update-nag/#what%20is%20this%20update%20nag%3F
The Lowdown:
Another awesome plugin for removing the update nag's!
Once you download this and activate it, it just simply stops the nagging update notices that appear at the top of all the admin pages!
You will still get a note about whether or not your site is up to date or out of date, but down at the bottom of the page, and in the update count link in the admin bar. So it doesn't make it impossible to know where you're site sits,it just get's rid of the flashy blinky thing at the top.
Very awesome! Easy to use, simply plug it in and let it go!

Sales Tax Reports For WooCommerce
https://wordpress.org/plugins/sales-tax-reports-for-woocommerce/
The Lowdown:
One of the joys of having an e-commerce store is making money. The drawback is that often you have to be a TAX collector the the government and then you have to report that info. This plugin will make that drudgery an bit less of a hassle.
It gives you the multiple reports you will need, to report and pay those pesky taxes.

What is Internet Control Message Protocol? (ICMP) I read about it briefly, but all it said was that it is a lack of error control, or lack of assistance mechanism.
What would you say is are the top-most important 3 things a developer should do/know/practice to keep things running as smoothly as possible?
