John's Intro:
Make sure to have a look at the new system for submitting art work for the show https://wppluginsatoz.com/artwork/. You can also view the art work from the past. Currently you can see all the submissions we have here https://wppluginsatoz.com/show-art-submitted/ and you can even vote on the art work.
We are now at 55 weeks of the Rona lock-downs, and yet the world still has not found its collective brain and insanity still abounds. There are small signs of hope here and there though so lets keep spreading the word and hopefully bring people back to the light.
With great appreciation for the No Agenda Show for their inspiration of ideas and the occasional stolen sound clip.
This is a value for value show and I look forward to everyone providing some value back.
Before I get started, you will want to hang around to the end of the show for our Q & A segment with Amber…. and to those listening on the podcast, you may want to check out the YouTube version which has some great discussions before the show starts…

Ambers' Rant:
This is #14 of 52 episodes for 2021. Its Episode 506, and here we are again to produce a fantastic show just for you!
I don't know about everyone out there right now, but I am tired of the idiocy out there today. Feeling done with it. Maybe the world accidentally went off script and lost their notes to remind them how to people.
One great thing about this show, is that although we tend to repeat a lot of things IN the show, it's always full of new and awesome content for your enjoyment!
We honestly don't rehearse anything on here – I mean, we have notes we write down, but half the time the notes are just there to remind us what we want to talk about, and we wind up not speaking them word for word. But unlike those out there, we still know how to people. Not many of those left it seems….
Right now is a great time to retreat from the world to under a blanket, curl up on the couch, listen to some music with no news hours, or to an audio book! Grab yourself a drink, and tell your kids to bugger off for an hour! Never be be afraid to tell your kids to bugger off for an hour – it's totally allowed to demand they not bother you unless they are broken, dying, or bleeding for the entirety of the hour! Maybe help them to create their own zone out spaces, than walk away quietly while they are ‘arranging' it – you will more than likely get about an hour all to yourself this way. Just don't crumple any chip or cookie bags….
Remember, remove all social media and main stream news for your own mental health! Do this for an hour a day.
Rinse and repeat as often as needed.
We have some news from the world of WordPress for you today as well as some great plugins.

ClassicPress Options
ClassicPress is a fast growing fork of WordPress that is starting to come into its own. ClassicPress is focused on Business Websites, runs fast and is looking pretty good. There are a few plugins specifically for ClassicPress and all plugins for WordPress 4.9.9 work well on it. I do believe it has a future.
One thing I am looking forward to in the ClassicPress World is the expansion of the number of ClassicPress specific plugins and their own repository. Currently there are not a lot of ClassicPress specific plugins but I do know it is going to grow and I'll have to expand this segment then. Who knows, it could take over the whole show.
This week for ClassicPress I have:
Just a note for my ClassicPress listeners please send me info to help keep the ClassicPress section full.

WP Recipe Maker
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-recipe-maker/
https://bootstrapped.ventures/wp-recipe-maker/get-the-plugin/
The lowdown:
I reviewed the free version of this plugin back in Episode 477, but it was finally time I upgraded to the first level of their pro version, they have 3 levels. After reviewing what each one offered I went for the more affordable 1st level since I do not see the need yet for the extras offered in level two and three.
I have found that the first level is what most people will need for running a site with recipes on it. The biggest thing I wanted here was the ability to link the ingredients to other pages, in reference to them, if in some cases to link to affiliate items. You can see this plugin in action over at TheRoguesTavern.com
I now have to raise the rating I gave it from a 4 to

Amber's Plugin
Personal Dictionary
https://wordpress.org/plugins/personal-dictionary/
Description
This is a front end personal dictionary. From what I can tell, anyone and everyone can add words to it so that everyone can use it for reference if it is put up on a public page.
Though if you were to put it up on people's personal pages, then they could have their own dictionary to refer to for study or just learning.
An excellent plugin for students, but also for anybody who needs to keep a running dictionary on the new language that is coming out; could also be great for people learning coding, or anything really.
It's easy to use, simply put the short code [ayspd_userpage] into whichever page you want it to show up on, and it pops up on the page in the front end.
The settings on it are pretty awesome, you can change the colouring to anything you want, set out how many questions a person can set to quiz themselves, and you have the ability to add unlimited words.
Unfortunately, there is a pro version. The free version only has support and updates for one month. Though you get to keep it and use it on your one site for a lifetime. I personally think that if you give access to something for a lifetime, there should be support and updates for the lifetime as well. What happens if there's an update 6 months down the road – are you simply unable to update the plugin? Then what happens, it dies? That knocks it down another point for me.
The pro version has more options, for a Professional level it's $30, and for a Developer version, which enables you to a lifetime of support and updates, and you can use it on however many sites you want. That one costs $90.
This could be exceedingly useful for anyone with any sort of learning area on their site, or if a person just wants to use it for their own study.

Lightning Paywall
https://wordpress.org/plugins/lightning-paywall/
The Lowdown:
This is one of the steps into the next level of paid content, something that was talked about years ago, and that is of true micro payments to your site. You can accept Bitcoin micro payments. This is a plugin that will connect you with the micro paywall to start collecting some money for all your hard work. More about it here https://coincharge.io/en/ as I dig deeper into this the rating will probably go up.

Amber's plugin
Tiny Carousel horizontal slider plus
https://wordpress.org/plugins/tiny-carousel-horizontal-slider-plus/
Description
While checking out various sliders for a site I am working on, I came across this one.
It's small, rather unobtrusive, and quite nicely set up.
It doesn't have a main picture, it just has the pictures going round and round in the line up. You can alter the speed and the controls.
The way to use it is to take the short code it creates for the slider you have created, and put it into which ever page you are wanting the carousel in. You can also add this carousel directly into your theme.
This does contain the option to add links and/or text into the pictures. Just add ‘link/alt text' to the pages.
At this point and time, it is currently free. This plugin is kept well up to date as well.
This is a nice and lightweight carousel, so if space is a concern for you, I highly recommend this one.

Allow Multiple Accounts
https://wordpress.org/plugins/allow-multiple-accounts/
The lowdown:
If you run a membership system that may include multiple members of same household or differing types of memberships, there may be a need to allow multiple people with same email to have an account. Normally this is not allowed in WordPress but with this plugin you can offer that options.
The author also has numerous other plugins you can check out here https://coffee2code.com/wp-plugins/

Amber's Plugin
Anti-Ad Blocker
https://wordpress.org/plugins/anti-adblock/
Description
This is a rather old plugin, very 90's looking. Hasn't been updated in 11 years, though it still works!
Essentially, when people who have ad blockers log onto your site for the 11th time, they will get a message politely asking them to please turn off their ad blocker and support your site.
I found this an entertaining plugin honestly! If a person has an ad blocker, I don't think they would willingly turn it off – it seems to me that a person would be more likely to avoid the site if they started getting pop up requests to turn off their ad blocker – that's really just as irritating as an ad in my opinion. I wonder – do these actually work?
You can also ask the person you are requesting to turn off their ad blocker, to give you a donation at the same time with this plugin!
Or really, you can have the message say whatever you want it to say.
This thing is totally customizable.
Matter of fact, the creators suggest you use this thing to rick roll your visitors who have ad blockers on! I think that's great!
One good thing, this message should only ever show up once to every customer on their 11th visit. So that seems good – though it also seems like it wouldn't work very well…
I would love for people to try this out, and let me know if it got some good or bad results!
I will be knocking it down a point though, just because I don't see this being really all that much use. Though I may be wrong – perhaps this would be exceedingly useful!
