Skipped the potholes for French Beach this Week
Well this one is not about the Sooke potholes but instead we decided to head out to French Beach, which is located about 25min past Sooke on the West Coast rd.
French beach is quite a beautiful BC Provincial park and should not be missed if you have a chance to check it out. There is also a great campground there which is open year round for camping which is very quite in the wintertime.
On this trip we did about 3 – 5k of hiking between the beach and the trails around the park, some of which are pretty overgrown and make for some interesting hiking. Though you should take care when hiking around here it seems that there is some private lands that bump up against the park and the lines between the two are hard to discern.
Here are some great shots of what we saw and did that day. One of the great things you can do is that if you manage to visit the park during low tide there are some pretty great tide pools that kids will love to pay in which have some pretty interesting sea life.
So if you’re looking for a great little getaway French Beach is an excellent place to go and its only a 90min drive from Victoria.
