WordPress.com announces new starter plan for $5/month – This new $5/m plan includes a custom domain name, 6GB storage, and the ability to use payment collection blocks (Donations Form, Premium Content, and Payment Button.) This is to bridge the gap between the free plan and the $15/month plan.

Open Source Initiative launches News Blog in WordPress – According to Stefano Maffulli, the Executive Director of Open Source Initiative, “One of the main objectives for OSI in 2022 is to reinforce our communication channels.” The improvements include the perception of OSI, a regular publishing schedule, and a content plan.

WordPress 6.0 ‘Arturo' adds more templates and patterns, style switching, and Block Locking UI – There is a new News Block, improved support for preserving unrecognized content in the editor, now block style transformation options, new border controls –  and a lot more. Very exciting, hopefully it will all work as planned!

The return of Gopher: pre-web hypertext service is still around – Did you know you can still use Gopher Space with Firefox? Just re-enable it with the extensions Overbite and Underbite. You can also re-enable this in Chrome through the extension Burrow – sometimes. There is even a modern browser dedicated to Gopher space called Gophi.
