Amber's Rant:
This is #44 of 52 episodes for 2021, and our wet coast is drowning!! According to Farmers Almanac, we were to expect a horribly wet winter this year due to where we are, but really – I think the birds are swimming through the air!
Hopefully everyone out there is remembering to get out and enjoy the little bit of watery daylight we have at this time of year! Gotta get the Vitamin D! I know I give my little family all vitamin D supplements throughout the winter – it really does help. And so does taking time for yourself – I even took the time to play Fable 2 this weekend! There is still a lot to finish unpacking after our move – but sitting down and just playing video games for a few hours sure felt good! Be sure to take those few hours to do something fun and enjoyable for yourself!
Rinse and repeat as often as needed.
We have some news from the world of WordPress for you today as well as some great plugins.
News this week:
New Core Web Vitals Technology Report shows overall pass rate for WordPress Sites decreases with newer versions – According to the article, Lazy Loading being added to the core is one of the main issues, though a few things are mentioned and talked about.
Rank Math SEO Launches a Content AI Feature – Essentially Rank Math created an AI to tell you whether or not you are doing well, and how to better your SEO rather than leaving it up to you to interpret and figure out.
Wowmall: A free experimental WooCommerce Block Theme – This seems to be the first WooCommerce block theme that has hit the market, and although it is still in experimental phase, it does seem to be getting some pretty good feedback!
Zero day flaws are now being oggled by the crooks of the world – A good article explaining how the criminals are beginning to enter into the tech world with enough money to start buying up Zero-Day flaws, and why this is not a good thing.
Windows 11 will soon block all default browser workarounds – Kind of a jerk move in my opinion… makes me feel even more sure about the need to stay with windows 10.
Windows Users Be AWARE! – Microsoft has confirmed a critical vulnerability has been found in ALL VERSIONS of windows, which is presenting an immediate threat. Read this article to find out more.
The extras – for even more extra news, check out our Facebook, or Twitter page!
This is the extra news stuff that someone out there might find interesting. To read more, you can head on over to the show notes or newsletter and check it out! If you find something to add for next show, send me a link at amber@wppro.ca
Dark Matter explained through the rules of Zombies – Very intriguing! Wanted to share this with everyone!
When your tesla takes control of itself – What can you do but file a complaint?
Microsoft pushing Edge on its users – Microsoft is damaging its rep these days, and this article goes into how they are doing so through the pushing of Edge.
Windows 11 early problems and their easy fixes – I hope they will figure out a way to fix the issue of being unable to get around the default browser
Drawbacks of switching to Linux – There are a lot of positives, but there are some major drawbacks as well doing this switch. Great article to go over if you are thinking about doing this move!
Taming your browser: How to resolve the HSTS site roadblock in Chrome – Although the browser deisgners MEAN well, sometimes their efforts really just hinder rather than protect. Read on to learn more!
Windows 10 app installer abused in BazarLoader malware attacks – TrickBot gangs are at it again! Read on to find out more!
How Microsoft is helping to keep kids honest in online schooling – they fixed a few bugs found so that kids can stop figuring out how to cheat in their online tests for school. Read on my friends!

ClassicPress Options
ClassicPress is growing really well, but I just don't have the time to add reviews on ClassicPress myself. I am always open to reviews sent in by listeners; though unless there is a review sent into me on ClassicPress, I am not going to do more than mention that ClassicPress is a thing, and here are some resources. I hope some listeners out there find this information useful!
One thing I am looking forward to in the ClassicPress World is the expansion of the number of ClassicPress specific plugins and their own repository. There are a few plugins specifically for ClassicPress and all plugins for WordPress 4.9.9 work well on it. I do believe it has a future, I just have not time to help them in getting it out there.

WordPress Plugins
Are you looking for some great newly released plugins check this link
https://wordpress.org/plugins/browse/new/
——————————–
John's Plugin
WCFM Membership – WooCommerce Memberships for Multivendor Marketplace
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wc-multivendor-membership/
The lowdown:
If you're looking to build out a marketplace where you can have multiple vendors, this may be the plugin for you. The free version can get you started, but to make it really work you will need the premium version and some add-ons. they can get a little pricey, but may be worth it in the long run.

Amber's Plugin
Social Share Buttons, Social Sharing Icons, Click to Tweet – Social Media Plugin by Social Snap
https://wordpress.org/plugins/socialsnap/
The Lowdown:
What is this amazing plugin? It's a social media plugin – offering auto updates for multiple platforms – and you are able to choose what your updates look like too! You get some beautiful share buttons to put on your site, that you also are able to personalize at least a little bit
This is one of those ‘long name, amazing results' kind of plugins! They have pretty well every option you could need to get started for the free version, than a heck of a lot more options in the pro version!
Worth giving the free version a good look to see how it works and how it goes for you. Worth the time!

John's Plugin
Delivery Area
https://wordpress.org/plugins/delivery-area-free-for-woocommerce/
The Lowdown:
This looks to be a great plugin for your Woocommerce store if you offer deliveries locally for your products. You can select your delivery area on a map, and then people can choose it. You set the days and times of delivery.

Amber's Plugin
Social Web Suite – Social Media Auto Post, Social Media Auto Publish and Schedule now with Gutenberg and WooCommerce support
https://wordpress.org/plugins/social-web-suite/
The Lowdown:
This one is the same kind of auto post idea for social media platforms, though a bit different of an approach as they are aiming for a more specific target of scheduling the auto updates, and including Gutenberg and WooCommerce.
Now if you don't mind using a third party platform to do everything, than this may be a great option for you! However, I personally don't like using third party platforms myself. I much prefer to have everything on my own site so that I can see everything and have complete control over my data.
This plugin does work fairly well though, and it could be a great asset so long as third party platforms don't bother you.

John's Plugin
Gravity Slider Fields
https://wordpress.org/plugins/gravity-slider-fields/
The Lowdown:
This is a plugin add-on for Gravity forms that will allow you to add sliders to the form for submission. This could be a useful item to add slider selections and other choices for your form.
Rating 5 Dragons.

Amber's Plugin
Social Media Auto Publish
https://wordpress.org/plugins/social-media-auto-publish/
The Lowdown:
I think this one is my favourite that I was able to find – Simple and easy to use, no fancy pages to work through, just add in your API, choose whether you want to auto post blogs, posts, etc, post format, and off you go! You also have the option of posting from a category as well.
You get a log, loads of support, and it seems to work really really well!

Q & A Time with Amber ——- Catch this info on our YouTube Channel
If you have questions you would like to have asked on the show, send them in to me at Amber@WPPro.ca and we will answer to the best of our ability!
- What does it mean when you go to a site, and the site says: ‘Your account has been suspended. Contact your WebMaster', and when you go to contact said webmaster, you receive an email stating that this email does not exist??
- If you go to a site that has been compromised as a guest, how likely are you to be compromised just by being there?
- How does that work?
- I remember losing internet once upon a time (back when I could pick up the home phone and listen in on a neighbours call secretly) during high winds. I've realized we don't really lose internet unless we lose power these days – doesn't the internet run through cables still??
