4000 WordPress Sites Infected by Installing Fake Plugin
About 4,000 WordPress websites have been infected with malware that disguises itself as a search engine optimization plugin to attract unwary webmasters. The fake plugin is called WP-Base-SEO and is based on a legitimate SEO module so it is easily overlooked during security scans and seems to be a viable tool by a web team intent on boosting its traffic. What the plugin actually does is create a backdoor to the victimized site. This is yet another reason to support and listen to this show, as we spot these things regularly. As a listener to the show, you know that the plugins we talk about are safe.
This is a pretty easy way to add trending news and or new from specifis souces to your website via a sidebar widget. You can adjust the settings to drill down to specific categories and regions and limit the number of articles to appear. It is a pretty good way to get additional content to your sote that is relevent.
provides the means to display a list of stock market news, for any given stock exchange and symbol. Over 65 different stock exchanges and a large number of market indices, currencies and commodities are supported.
It not too bad requires some effort to get it fully setup and running but can provide some useful info. You have to create an account on thier site to get the API key.
The plugin is to create a shortcode for displaying the list view of a public Google Calendar. Shortcode: [gc_list_view] (Put the shortcode on a post or page.). Remember that this is a basic text list view. It does seem unformatted out of the box so you will have to make some CSS modifications to get it to work perfectly formatted within your site.
If you want to add more value to your WooCommerce site by giving more reasons for your customers to buy your product, this plugin is right for you. It will allow you to extend the way you expose your product through annotation of those products in live pictures.
Best of all, this plugin is accompanied with a friendly and responsive user interface for both the frontend and the backend sides. You can annotate, save, display your image, then go back and edit it by adding different products on top of your image.
The plugin connects to Copyscape API to check if published posts are original or not. It prevents posts from authors and contributers to be published if they are not original. Also it adds a button for admins and editors on every post page to query Copyscape for this post.
